STAFF SERGEANT NA IM D. SMITH
Staff Sgt. Na im D. Smith is assigned to the Joint Staff, J-2 Directorate for Intelligence, in support of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C. He supports joint intelligence requirements and senior-leader decision-making within the National Capital Region.

Sergeant Smith entered the U.S. Air Force in January 2018 as an Administration Airman. His assignments include Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi; Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom; Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana; the Pentagon; and Washington, D.C.

Prior to his current assignment, Sergeant Smith served as the Assistant Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of Executive Services for the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Energy, Installations, and Environment at the Pentagon. He managed executive-support, personnel, security, travel, onboarding, evaluation, supply, and resource-management programs supporting senior leaders and a military, civilian, and contractor workforce.

During his Pentagon assignment, Sergeant Smith managed security operations for four controlled work areas, processed 320 badging requests, and helped achieve a no-findings result during the 2024 annual security inspection. He also secured 1,915 military personnel appropriation man-days to mitigate critical staffing shortages and coordinated the repair of eight secure communications workstations supporting senior-level strategic basing deliberations.

Sergeant Smith also led execution of a $452,000 travel budget supporting 326 mission-critical senior-leader trips and implemented a Pentagon parking-permit process that reduced administrative workload by 730 hours. His earlier Pentagon accomplishments included managing a $413,000 travel budget, supporting workforce onboarding during significant personnel turnover, and improving secure-workstation availability for strategic-basing decisions.
