Cyber Surety Technician


Master Sergeant Scott A. Darbone distinguished himself by meritorious service while serving as Deputy Chief, Wing Information Assurance, 60th Communications Squadron, 60th Mission Support Group, 60th Air Mobility Wing, Travis Air Force Base, California. During this period, Sergeant Darbone's outstanding leadership and expertise as Team Travis' Information Assurance manager were vital to the implementation of Cyber Surety programs supporting three wings serving 13 thousand users. Sergeant Darbone led a 3-person team to certify and secure the 44 million dollar communications network and blade server upgrade, optimizing access speed and services on the largest network in the Air Mobility Command. Additionally, he served as Emission Security and Information Assurance workforce certification program manager where he validated 57 certification packages, ensuring 106 classified areas and 128 personnel were in compliance with Department of Defense security policies. Moreover, his tireless efforts contributed to the 60th Air Mobility Wing receiving an "Outstanding" rating on Secure Internet Protocol Router Network from the 2016 Department of Defense Command Cyber Readiness Inspection. Airman First Class Roger J Cuciniello distinguished himself by outstanding achievement in the superior performance of his duties as Cyber Surety Apprentice, 51st Communications Squadron, 51st Mission Support Group, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea. During this period, Airman Cuciniello conducted extensive and thorough computer security inspections, preparing 43 units across Osan Air Base and its three geographically separated locations to meet Department of Defense information assurance requirements. He identified 48 unauthorized removable flash media devices, preventing malware infections and preserving the integrity of a 24 million dollar network vital to the defense of the Republic of Korea. Additionally, Airman Cuciniello conducted 12 local national access validations and audited 570 local national accounts, preventing unnecessary foreign access to sensitive United States information systems. Senior Airman Jeffrey D. Barker distinguished himself by meritorious service while serving as Cyber Surety Journeyman, 34th Combat Communications Squadron, 3d Combat Communications Group, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. During this period, Airman Barker inspected 39 increments and 93 tons of theater deployable communications equipment for immediate deployment to aid three million Haitians during Operation Unified Response. Additionally, Airman Barker deployed to forward operating base Shindand, Afghanistan where he successfully integrated Air Force and Army networks, providing vital and secure communications capabilities for over 3,000 personnel. Further, Airman Barker was selected for the Information Assurance Tiger Team which standardized a host based security server action plan for the 3d Combat Communications Group. Finally, he took the lead on a critical Multi Link software installation, enabling emergency power down features to prevent data loss and facilitate rapid disaster recovery. Staff Sergeant Todd C Legg distinguished himself by outstanding achievement while assigned as Cyber Surety Journeyman, 332nd Expeditionary Communications Squadron, 332nd Expeditionary Mission Support Group, 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing, Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base, Kuwait. During this period, the professional skill, leadership, and ceaseless efforts of Sergeant Legg contributed to the effectiveness and success of the Air Force Wing level Information Assurance Program. His determination in adhering to the National Security Agency policies aided in the Wing's successful rating during the Semi-Annual Emissions Security Staff Assistance Visit. Staff Sergeant Cory M. Craig distinguished himself by meritorious service while serving as Cyber Surety Journeyman and Wing Communications Security Accountant, 138th Communications Flight, 138th Fighter Wing, Tulsa Air National Guard Base, Oklahoma. During this period, as the Wing Communications Security Accountant, Sergeant Craig maintained the program in a manner that resulted in no discrepancies identified in the Air Force Network Integration Center during an Information Assurance Assessment visit. As an Information Assurance Officer, Sergeant Craig performed the transfer of user access documents from physical to digital format, enabling integration with network monitoring systems to ensure documentation met standards, reducing man-hours required and increasing efficiency for the Wing Information Assurance Office. Further, Seargent Craig was instrumental in the continued success of the unit, his untiring efforts contributing to the Information Assurance office received a Superior Team Award during an Air Combat Command Operational Readiness Inspection. Staff Sergeant Dustin E Balch distinguished himself by meritorious service while serving as Cyber Surety Specialist, 138th Communications Flight, 138th Fighter Wing, Tulsa Air National Guard Base, Oklahoma. During this period, Sergeant Balch implemented and managed information systems vulnerability indentification and reporting programs that were critical to increased security posture of the base network and information systems. In addition, he streamlined the local Time Compliance Network Order reporting process, reducing time spent on an otherwise man-hour intensive program. Further, Sergeant Balch implemented and managed System Checker software which enabled real time monitoring of all systems for patching, virus definitions, user logon statistics, and unauthorized device use to ensure compliance with Air Force information systems standards. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Balch reflect credit upon himself, the 138th Communications Flight, and the United States Air Force National Guard.




Staff Sergeant Steven A. Dugger distinguished himself by meritorious service while assigned as Cyber Surety Technician Journeyman, 346th Test Squadron, 318th Information Operations Group, 688th Information Operations Wing, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. During this period, Sergeant Dugger established a training program for the flight from the ground up, resulting in the training of five NCOs on 233 mission related tasks and leading to the Wing's CUI excellent rating. Additionally, Sergeant Dugger led a five member install team that deployed 88 PCs to the 346th Test Squadron's Mission Control Room, improving the Network Defense virtualization testing capabilities by forty percent. Finally, Sergeant Dugger developed and implemented new test set-up practices involving a hard drive image duplicator which saved the squadron over 165 man hours annually. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Dugger reflect credit upon himself, the 346th Test Squadron, and the United States Air Force.




Technical Sergeant David A. Tanner distinguished himself by meritorious service while serving as Information Technolgy Specialist, 162nd Communications Flight, 162nd Fighter Wing, Tucson International Airport, Arizona. During this period, Sergeant Tanner completed and closed more than 220 technical trouble tickets while working in the Cyber Systems Operations Center, Communications Focal Point, and Cyber Surety sections. Additionally, through his vigilance and meticulous attention to detail, Sergeant Tanner closed 150 Time Compliance Network Orders, preserving system integrity. Further, he served as the central focal point for all base Time Compliance Network Orders, Notice to Airman, and Maintenance Technical Order alerts, reducing redundancy and improving efficiency by fifty percent. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Tanner reflect credit upon himself, the 162nd Communications Flight and the United States Air Force.




Senior Airman Seth M Delp distinguished himself by meritorious service while serving as Cyber Vulnerability Management Technician, 86th Communications Squadron, 86th Mission Support Group, 86th Airlift Wing, Ramstein Air Base Germany. During this period, Airman Delp led Kaiserslautern Military Community cyber surety all-calls, training 280 administrators across 135 units, facilitating Ramstein Air Base's Command Cyber Readiness Inspection Excellent rating. Additionally, he optimized the use of Ramstein's Air Force Network Compliance tracker program, closing over 200 orders, and removing more than 26,000 exploits across five Wings. Furthermore, Airman Delp implemented an automatic patching program in support of OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE, eliminating 61,200 vulnerabilities on over 9,000 devices. Finally, he configured 311 servers with 25,000 security settings, fortifying strategic information for Headquarters United States Air Force in Europe, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and three Wings. The distinctive accomplishments of Airman Delp reflect credit upon himself, the 86th Communications Squadron, and the United States Air Force.




Chief Master Sergeant Harley B Taylor distinguished himself by meritorious service while serving as Superintendent, 111th Communications Squadron, 111th Attack Wing, Biddle Air National Guard Base, Pennsylvania. During this period, Sergeant Taylor led the 45-member organization, improving training results and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the circuits and systems that serve the 111th Attack Wing. Under his leadership, the Cyber Surety function propelled vulnerability management scores to among the best in the Air National Guard and ensured sufficient Communications Security personnel were trained and certified as members rotated through the unit. Additionally, under his direction, circuits were upgraded and circuit routing speeds and redundant circuit reliability improved. Further, he supervised the transition of the installation from a host base to tenant unit and helped stand up an RPA and Cyber mission. The distinctive accomplishments of Chief Master Sergeant Taylor reflect credit upon himself, the 111th Communications Squadron and the United States Air Force.




Technical Sergeant John NMI Doe distinguished himself by meritorious service while serving as Cyber Surety Specialist, 161st Communications Squadron, 161st Air Refueling Wing, Goldwater Air National Guard Base, Arizona. During this period, Sergeant Doe aggressively enforced protocols and policies by conducting TEMPEST inspections, preventing emission violations in controlled areas across the Wing. In addition, he developed the curriculum and trained the Cyber Surety Office, increasing mission effectiveness and developing motivated and confident technicians. Further, he aggressively tackled 7,400 accreditations and certifications for both Non Secure and Secure Internet Protocol Router Networks, leading to the authorization of the Risk Management Framework Approval to Operate and sustaining mission capabilities with zero disruptions.
