Deployable Communications Systems Technician

Senior Airman Scott L. Champion distinguished himself by meritorious service as Deployable Communications Systems Technician, 612th Air Communications Squadron, Headquarters Twelfth Air Force (Air Forces Southern), Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. During this period, Airman Champion deployed to Colombia in support of the President of the United States attending the 2012 Summit of Americas Conference. He provided command and control systems to the Joint Task Force staff and United States Secret Service, ensuring the safety and security of the President and thirty three heads of state. Additionally, he engineered a radio frequency link to the Combined Air and Space Operations Center during Exercise ANGEL THUNDER 2011. This link provided successful training for ten South American nations, three hundred and fifty seven sorties, and one thousand seven hundred and twenty eight personnel. Lastly, Airman Champion deployed to Peru in support of NEW HORIZONS 2012. As the sole data technician, he provided voice and data services to fifty five members of the Health Response Team enabling them to care for five thousand Peruvians. The distinctive accomplishments of Airman Champion reflect credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
