Inbound Cargo Clerk Awards


Senior Airman Stephen P. Herzig distinguished himself by outstanding achievement while serving as Inbound Cargo Clerk, 451st Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, 451st Expeditionary Mission Support Group, 451st Air Expeditionary Wing, Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. During this period, Airman Herzig oversaw the two point five million dollar monthly container program. His meticulous management skills procured government assets and saved over 25 thousand dollars in detention costs. Additionally, he was coined by the Prime Beef Superintendent for single handedly downloading over 200 mattresses in less than 30 minutes, eliminating wing bed down issues. Furthermore, Airman Herzig expeditiously packed and moved 34 pieces of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance equipment. His diligence and streamlined processing resulted in a 12-hour asset turn around, vital to covert and intelligence operations for HH-60G search and recovery missions. Finally, Senior Airman Herzig in-checked 4,000 Mission Capable aircraft parts, and transferred them to Supply Receiving within one hour of receipt, sustaining 22,000 on-time combat sorties and 234 bombs on adversary forces in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The distinctive accomplishments of Senior Airman Herzig reflect credit upon himself, the 451st Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron and the United States Air Force.




Senior Airman Sheila R. Dunning distinguished herself by outstanding achievement as Inbound Cargo Supervisor, Logistic Readiness Deployment Distribution Cargo Section, 506th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, 322nd Air Expeditionary Wing, Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Iraq. During this period, as the sole Inbound Cargo receiving clerk, Airman Dunning oversaw the in-check, receipt, and routing of more than 1,250 equipment items and 72,000 tons cargo, contributing to the efficient operations of the entire Wing and the mission it supports. In addition, she secured EOD x-ray machines, improving Inbound Cargo's ability to identify hazardous material and IEDs and protect personnel. She continually evaluated and obtained receiving organizations' correct information for Inbound Cargo, facilitating the daily transfer of cargo while eliminating mission delays due to transportation. Further, she identified a mishandled weapons shipment and obtained and corrected the shipping information, preventing the loss of seven thousand dollars in assets. Finally, she guided the distribution of MRAP kits and in-processed and loaded 15 wire harness kits, increasing MRAP capability and base security. The distinctive accomplishments of Airman Dunning reflect credit upon herself, the 506th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron and the United States Air Force.
