During this period, Sergeant Herrera generated 2,600 missions, airlifting 140,500 passengers, and 45,600 tons of cargo with a 95 percent departure reliability rate, capturing the 515th Air Mobility Operations Wing Maintenance Effectiveness Award for 2013. Staff Sergeant Zachery S. Forman distinguished himself by meritorious service while serving as Instrument and Flight Control Systems Journeyman, 22nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 22nd Maintenance Group, 22nd Air Refueling Wing, McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas. During this period, the professional skill, leadership, and ceaseless efforts of Sergeant Forman contributed greatly to the effectiveness and success of the United States Air Force's "Super Tanker Wing". When Sergeant Forman was dispatched to investigate a fuel quantity system failure, he identified and repaired a defective splice in less than 30 minutes, saving a President of the United States mission. Additionally, he responded to a smoke in the flight deck emergency and quickly pinpointed and replaced a burnt relay which protected the lives of seven crew members and saved a 42 million dollar aircraft. Further, during his deployment to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, Sergeant Forman rectified a grounding digital conditioning unit channel B fault. He identified a failed channel memory fault and replaced the defective component which ensured the delivery of 56,000 pounds of fuel to a NATO E-3B aircraft. Finally, Sergeant Forman terminated an on-going altitude hold disengagement condition by locating and replacing a faulty control panel, rectifying a three flight repeat discrepancy. Senior Airman Travis D. Mason distinguished himself by outstanding achievement while serving as Instrument and Flight Control Systems Journeyman, 60th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 60th Maintenance Group, 60th Air Mobility Wing, Travis Air Force Base, California. During this period, Airman Mason displayed unrivaled devotion to duty when he volunteered to manage the Non-classified (NIPR) and Secret Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) Network accounts while deployed to Al Asad Air Base, Iraq. His efforts ensured zero security violations and one hundred percent accountability of assets valued at over 25,000 dollars and ultimately earned him the coveted 521st Air Mobility Operations Group Jackal Award while supporting Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM.
