Staff Sergeant Jeremy R. Cross distinguished himself by meritorious service in a variety of assignments, culminating as Security Forces Investigator, 802d Security Forces Squadron, 802d Mission Support Group, 37th Training Wing, 502d Air Base Wing, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. During this period, while serving as a Criminal Investigator, Sergeant Cross investigated and solved 15 narcotics and larceny cases, resulting in the protection of over 25,000 base personnel and over twenty billion dollars in war fighting assets. At Lackland Air Force base, his textbook procedures and attention to detail were critical as he independently investigated more than 42 criminal cases, and conducted more than 50 criminal subject interviews a year, maintaining a 75 percent solve rate. Additionally, due to his professional image, positive influence, and stellar performance, Sergeant Cross was hand picked to attend the instructor certification course for Nark II Narcotics Identification, which benefited both investigators and patrolmen in identifying and investigating suspected narcotics cases. Lastly, Sergeant Cross deployed to Joint Base Balad, Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. While deployed, he was assigned as Personal Security Detail for visits by the Secretary of the Air Force and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, ensuring an incident free visit. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Cross while serving his country reflect credit upon himself, the 802d Security Forces Squadron and the United States Air Force.
