Senior Master Sergeant Benjamin L. Miller distinguished himself by meritorious service while serving as Maintenance Superintendent, 374th Maintenance Squadron, 374th Maintenance Group, 374th Airlift Wing, Yokota Air Base, Japan. During this period, Sergeant Miller deployed to Bangladesh and skillfully led a 25-member maintenance team in support of Exercise COPE SOUTH 2015. His direct supervision and maintenance oversight of 11 C-130H aircraft proved vital to completing 47 sorties, dropping 840 paratroops and delivering 20 low cost, low altitude bundles. Attacking a negative delayed discrepancy trend, Sergeant Miller's extensive aircraft maintenance management experience was instrumental to slashing write-ups by 58 percent, resulting in a 30 percent increase in the Wing's available aircraft. Additionally, he was selected to lead a team tasked to support accident investigators after a fatal aircraft mishap. His team collected and processed evidence for investigators, enabling the quick repair and recovery of the aircraft in less than 72 hours. Further, Sergeant Miller flawlessly executed the acquisition plan for 676 equipment items supporting the Wing's transition to the C-130J. His management of legacy equipment items guaranteed the seamless transition to supporting aircraft maintenance across two Major Commands, while simultaneously maintaining legacy C-130H and MC-130H capability.The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Miller culminate a distinguished career in the service of his country and reflect great credit upon himself, the 374th Maintenance Group and the United States Air Force.
