SUBJECT: Response to Letter of Counseling

1. I have reflected upon the LOC dated 9 Mar 18 and ask that you consider the following response when making your decision to maintain or to withdraw the LOC.

2. As a NCO, I understand that I am held to a higher standard. I have accepted the responsibility of setting the example for the airmen I oversee. Not only have I accepted this honor, I am also placed in a position of followership and am expected to carry out orders that are given to me by my superiors.

3. There is no acceptable excuse for not following lawful orders. By neglecting my duties as an NCO, I have injured the preparedness of myself and my airmen. I have denied myself the chance to improve my physical fitness by not attending two of the four squadron PT sessions provided. As a member of the fitness center who works nights, I am very grateful and thankful I am only required to attend two sessions.

4. To prevent further insubordination I will create a schedule with my fellow shift leaders to ensure myself and our airmen attend the required amount of mandatory squadron PT sessions. As a further note I would like to apologize for the time required to write and issue the LOCs for this incident.

5. Thank you for taking the time to consider my response, and I look forward to continuing under your supervision.
